About

FAHCI (Fédération des Associations pour la Promotion Sociale des Handicapés de Côte d'Ivoire) was founded in June 1978, making it the oldest national disability federation in Côte d'Ivoire. Headquartered in the Plateau district of Abidjan, the federation brings together approximately 150 associations of and for people with all disability types, including engaged family members and allies.

What They Do

FAHCI builds and defends an inclusive society where every person with a disability can access their fundamental rights and contribute to national development. It conducts advocacy campaigns with public authorities, provides capacity-building on health rights and employment access, and promotes self-employment for people with disabilities. The federation represents Côte d'Ivoire within OMPH, PANAPH, and FOAPH at international and regional levels.

Who They Serve

FAHCI serves people with physical, sensory, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities throughout Côte d'Ivoire, as well as their families and support organisations. Its 150 member associations provide a national network of mutual aid and collective advocacy.

Community Note

FAHCI is a founding member of UNOPH-CI, the new national umbrella body for disability organisations in Côte d'Ivoire launched in July 2026.
