Family-LedState / RegionalCross-Disability

About

Founded in 1975 as a coalition of parent groups, the Federation for Children with Special Needs has been rooted in family leadership for nearly 50 years. The organisation represents families of children with a wide range of disabilities and is the federally designated Parent Training and Information (PTI) Center for Massachusetts.

What They Do

FCSN operates a Parent Center offering information and referral services, peer support networks, IEP and special education navigation workshops, transition planning assistance, and online learning resources. The organisation also runs mentoring programmes, family leadership training, and advocacy at the state level on education and disability services.

Who They Serve

Parents, guardians, and caregivers of children with disabilities in Massachusetts — across all disability types from early intervention through the transition to adulthood at age 22. Special outreach programmes serve diverse and underserved communities.

Community Note

Staff are primarily parents of children with disabilities; strong peer-to-peer support model connecting experienced families with newer ones.
