HDRC provides information, referrals, and legal assistance on disability rights across all Hawaiian islands.
About
The Hawaii Disability Rights Center (HDRC) is a non-profit organisation and Hawaii's federally mandated protection and advocacy (P&A) agency. Based in Honolulu and part of the National Disability Rights Network, HDRC serves as the primary disability legal rights body for the state of Hawaii, covering all major islands.
What They Do
HDRC provides free information and referrals on disability-related rights, investigates abuse and neglect in residential and institutional settings, monitors conditions in care facilities, and advocates for systemic policy change. Legal representation is offered in high-priority cases involving civil rights and access issues.
Who They Serve
HDRC serves people with any type of disability living in Hawaii — across O'ahu, Maui, Hawai'i Island, Kaua'i, and neighbouring islands — prioritising individuals at risk of abuse, neglect, or violations of their civil or human rights.
