The JCPD is the statutory government body established under Jamaica's Disabilities Act 2014 to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities. It coordinates vocational training, rehabilitation, employment placement, and disability rights education nationwide.
About
Established by the Disabilities Act 2014, the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities (JCPD) is a statutory body operating under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. What They Do
The JCPD registers persons with disabilities, delivers vocational skills training and employment placement, assesses the accessibility of public and private spaces, and provides public education on disability rights. It maintains the national disability registry, coordinates cross-sector disability services, and enforces compliance with the Disabilities Act.
Who They Serve
The Council serves all Jamaicans with disabilities regardless of the nature or severity of their condition. This includes adults seeking vocational training and employment, individuals requiring rehabilitation and life-skills support, and employers and organisations seeking guidance on accessibility obligations.
