The Lithuanian Disability Forum is the country's largest cross-disability umbrella organisation, founded in 2001 and uniting 15 member organisations that collectively represent around 300,000 people with disabilities and their families. It monitors Lithuania's implementation of the UN CRPD and advocates for equal participation in all areas of life.
About
Lietuvos Negalios Organizacijų Forumas (LNF) was established in 2001 in Vilnius with the goal of uniting organisations that represent different disability groups to create a combined voice for policy change. It is a full member of the European Disability Forum (EDF) and holds consultative status with Lithuanian government bodies.
What They Do
LNF monitors the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Lithuania, submits shadow reports to UN and EU institutions, participates in disability policy-making at both national and regional levels, and files complaints about violations of disabled people's rights. The Forum also engages in litigation, prepares legal claims, and conducts training and awareness campaigns on disability rights.
Who They Serve
People with all types of disabilities across Lithuania, including those with physical, sensory, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities, as well as temporarily disabled people and their families. The 15 member organisations together represent approximately 300,000 individuals.
