The Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network (LATAN) is Louisiana's statewide assistive technology (AT) programme, operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded under the federal Assistive Technology Act. Headquartered at 10988 N. Harrell's Ferry Road, Suite 5 in Baton Rouge, LATAN operates a second service centre in Shreveport to ensure access across the state. Its annual operating budget of approximately $852,000 supports a full range of AT access services.
What They Do
LATAN offers hands-on device demonstrations across a broad range of assistive technologies, a short-term device loan programme so individuals can try AT before purchasing, an AT financial loan programme for those who cannot afford devices outright, and an AT marketplace connecting buyers and sellers of pre-owned equipment. LATAN also provides training for consumers, families, and professionals and partners with schools, vocational rehabilitation, and healthcare providers across Louisiana.
