The Cayman Islands' statutory advisory body that promotes accessibility, inclusion, and disability rights across education, employment, healthcare, and public spaces. The Council monitors implementation of the Disability (Solomon Webster) Act 2016 and the Cayman Islands Disability Policy 2014–2033, advising both public and private sectors on inclusive practice.
About
The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) is a statutory body of the Cayman Islands Government (CIG), based in George Town, Grand Cayman. Its 18 members—drawn from the private sector and government, all with a personal or professional connection to disability—were created to monitor, advise, and promote compliance with the Disability (Solomon Webster) Act 2016 and the Cayman Islands Disability Policy 2014–2033.
What They Do
The NCPD collaborates with government agencies, private sector partners, and community organisations to identify and remove accessibility barriers, advises on disability policy and legislation, promotes public awareness through an observance calendar and community events, and encourages inclusive practices across all areas of Cayman life—from education and employment to healthcare, transportation, and public spaces.
Who They Serve
All persons with disabilities in the Cayman Islands—residents and visitors alike—as well as employers, educators, healthcare providers, and any public or private entity seeking guidance on creating accessible, inclusive environments in line with Cayman Islands law and policy.
