National Commission for Persons with Disability(NCPD)

The National Commission for Persons with Disability is Sierra Leone's statutory government body established by the Persons with Disabilities Act 2011 to protect and promote the rights of persons with disabilities. It maintains a national disability register, oversees anti-discrimination enforcement, and coordinates inclusive policies across government ministries.

The NCPD was established by an Act of Parliament signed on 10 March 2011, becoming fully operational in 2012. Based in New England Ville, Freetown, it is the specialised government agency mandated to implement Sierra Leone's disability legislation and coordinate the national disability agenda.

NCPD maintains a national database of persons with disabilities, investigates discrimination complaints, advises government on disability-inclusive policy, and partners with civil society and international organisations to promote the UNCRPD. It works to ensure equal access to education, healthcare, employment, and public services for all persons with disabilities in Sierra Leone.
