National Disability Forum of Solomon Islands(NDFSI)
National Disability Forum of Solomon Islands (NDFSI) is the central coordinating body for all disability organisations in the Solomon Islands, legally registered under its current name in 2025 after operating since 2003 as DPASI. Based in Honiara, NDFSI leads policy advocacy aligned with the UN CRPD and provides disability awareness training nationwide.
About
National Disability Forum of Solomon Islands (NDFSI), formerly known as the Disabled Persons Association of Solomon Islands (DPASI), is the central coordinating Non-Governmental Organisation representing all disability organisations in the Solomon Islands. It was originally established in 2003 and adopted its current name and constitution in 2024, with formal legal registration as NDFSI completed at the start of 2025.
What They Do
NDFSI conducts policy analysis and advocacy aligned with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), provides disability awareness training and workshops for both disabled and non-disabled community members, and coordinates the work of member organisations including the Blind and Visual Impairment Solomon Islands (BVISI), the Solomon Islands Deaf Association (SIDA), and the Disability Women Empowerment Association (DWEA).
Who They Serve
Persons with visual, hearing, physical, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities throughout the Solomon Islands, with particular emphasis on women with disabilities and rural communities who face additional barriers to inclusion and service access.
