About
Founded in 1975 by concerned citizens, the North Dakota Association for the Disabled (NDAD) fills critical service gaps by helping people with disabilities who do not qualify for existing state or federal programmes. Based in Grand Forks with additional offices in Bismarck, Fargo, Minot, and Williston, NDAD has served every corner of North Dakota for nearly 50 years.
What They Do
NDAD provides direct financial assistance for prescription medications, medical equipment, medical supplies, out-of-town medical travel, and home and vehicle accessibility modifications. It operates the Healthcare Equipment Loan Program (HELP) — which loans durable medical equipment free of charge for up to three months — a wheelchair van loan programme, and adaptive recreational activities including swimming, bowling, sled hockey, and an annual adaptive water-skiing event.
Who They Serve
North Dakotans with disabilities of all ages — especially those who fall through the gaps of traditional funding streams — who need direct financial assistance, adaptive equipment access, or participation in adaptive recreation and community life.
