About
Perkumpulan Penyandang Disabilitas Indonesia (PPDI) is Indonesia's principal national federation of disability organisations, founded on 11 March 1987. Headquartered in Jakarta, PPDI operates as a non-partisan umbrella body open to all national-level disability social organisations and community groups. It maintains a network spanning almost all provinces and is a member of Disabled People International.
What They Do
PPDI functions as both a coordinating and advocacy institution for its member organisations, acting as the government's principal civil society partner in formulating disability policies and programmes. The federation engages in legislative review, promotes the implementation of Indonesia's Disability Law (Law No. 8 of 2016), and builds the capacity of provincial DPOs. PPDI also monitors the implementation of the CRPD in Indonesia and contributes to international disability networks.
Who They Serve
PPDI serves persons with all categories of disability throughout Indonesia — one of Southeast Asia's most populous and geographically diverse nations. Its provincial network reaches disabled people in both urban centres and remote communities. Member organisations include cross-disability associations, single-disability groups, and community-based organisations representing physical, sensory, intellectual, and psychosocial disability.
