The Starkloff Disability Institute (SDI) is a St. Louis-based nonprofit named in honour of disability rights pioneer Max Starkloff, who co-founded Paraquad and helped launch the independent living movement in Missouri. SDI's mission is to create pathways for people with disabilities to gain acceptance in all facets of society through employment, education, and universal access.
What They Do
SDI delivers one-on-one career coaching, professional development courses, college and career planning, and youth transition programming — including the Dream Big summer camp for transition-age youth. It also provides employer education and disability inclusion consulting to help businesses implement disability-inclusive hiring practices and workplace accommodations.
Who They Serve
Transition-age youth, young adults, and adults with any disability seeking career development support, as well as employers, HR professionals, and educators across Missouri who want to build more inclusive workplaces and campuses.
