Union of Disabled People in Bulgaria(UDPB)

The Union of Disabled People in Bulgaria (UDPB) is one of the country's oldest disability organisations, established on 15 December 1989 at the start of Bulgaria's democratic transition. It unites 319 local organisations and associations across 203 municipalities, representing more than 41,000 members with diverse disabilities.

The Union of Disabled People in Bulgaria (UDPB) was founded on 15 December 1989, making it one of the first non-governmental disability organisations established after Bulgaria's democratic changes. Headquartered in Sofia, UDPB operates through a nationwide network and is a member of the European Disability Forum (EDF).

UDPB advocates for legislation and policies that support full participation and equal rights for people with disabilities. It runs programmes in social rehabilitation, peer support, and community integration, and provides a platform for local associations to coordinate on shared disability rights issues. UDPB also engages with European and international disability networks.
