Vanuatu Disability Promotion & Advocacy Association(VDPA)
The sole national disabled peoples' organisation of Vanuatu, advancing the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities across all islands and provinces. Vanuatu was the first Pacific island nation to ratify the UN CRPD, and VDPA leads disability policy engagement at national and regional levels.
About
The Vanuatu Disability Promotion & Advocacy Association (VDPA) is a charitable national organisation in Vanuatu, led by and for people with disabilities. Based in Luganville on the island of Santo, it is the only national DPO in Vanuatu and a member of the Pacific Disability Forum. In 2025 VDPA launched a new five-year strategic plan (2024–2029).
What They Do
VDPA advocates for disability rights at national and community levels, promotes inclusive rebuilding after disasters, and engages with government policy on disability-inclusive development. It partners with international agencies and the Pacific Disability Forum to amplify the voices of Vanuatu's disabled community.
Who They Serve
VDPA serves people with all types of disability across Vanuatu's islands and provinces, with particular attention to disaster-affected communities and those seeking accessible environments, equal education, and employment opportunities.
