About

Established in 1973, Voice of Albertans with Disabilities (VAD) is guided by the principles of accessibility, equity, and inclusion. With offices in both Edmonton and Calgary, it is the only province-wide cross-disability membership organization in Alberta led entirely by people with disabilities.

What They Do

VAD provides individualized support to help Albertans with disabilities access income supports such as AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped), navigate health systems, and connect with partner organizations. It conducts systemic advocacy to all levels of government, offers accessibility consultations to businesses and municipalities, and builds cross-disability community through events and member engagement.

Who They Serve

VAD serves Albertans with physical, sensory, cognitive, psychiatric, and chronic disabilities who seek peer support, income benefits navigation, or a collective cross-disability voice in provincial and municipal policy discussions.
