Zambia Federation of Disability Organisations(ZAFOD)

About
The Zambia Federation of Disability Organisations (ZAFOD) was established in 1985 and officially registered in 1986. Re-registered in 2009 under the Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities following the Disability Act of 1996, ZAFOD is the primary civil society voice for persons with disabilities in Zambia, headquartered in the Woodlands–Chalala area of Lusaka.
What They Do
ZAFOD facilitates unity, capacity building, and networking among affiliated organisations of persons with disabilities. Core activities include advocacy for the promotion and protection of disability rights, institutional strengthening of affiliated DPOs, disability-focused research to inform policy, and public awareness campaigns about barriers preventing meaningful participation in civic, economic, and social life.
Who They Serve
ZAFOD serves Zambians with all types of disability through its affiliated member organisations, spanning physical, sensory, intellectual, and psychosocial disability constituencies. The federation's national mandate means its advocacy reaches persons with disabilities across all provinces of Zambia, with particular focus on removing barriers to equal participation in public life and economic opportunity.
