About this resource

About

Avaz was invented by Ajit Narayanan and recognised on MIT's TR35 list of top innovators in 2011. Developed by Avaz Inc., it is available in both an international edition and an India-specific edition supporting Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, and Marathi — making robust AAC accessible to families whose primary language is not English.

What It Does

Communicators select SymbolStix images or type text to generate speech with high-quality voices. The app includes predictive text, customisable vocabulary, and a companion web dashboard where SLPs and caregivers can manage boards and monitor usage data remotely. A 14-day free trial is available without a credit card.

Who It Helps

Children and adults with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Rett syndrome, and Angelman syndrome. Particularly valuable for bilingual and multilingual families who need AAC support in a language other than English.
