About this resource

About

Developed by Posit Science and led by neuroscientist Dr Michael Merzenich — a pioneer of adult neuroplasticity research — BrainHQ draws on 30 years of brain science. It is used in TBI rehabilitation programmes across the US Armed Forces and has been validated in a Pentagon-funded randomised trial showing significant cognitive gains for veterans with mild TBI.

What It Does

The platform provides 29 exercises across six domains: Attention, Memory, Brain Speed, Intelligence, People Skills, and Navigation. Adaptive algorithms adjust difficulty in real time based on performance data, ensuring training stays in the optimal challenge zone. A free Daily Spark exercise is available without subscription; full access costs $14/month or $96/year. Mobile apps for iOS and Android support on-the-go training.

Who It Helps

Adults recovering from mild traumatic brain injury, stroke, or surgery; older adults experiencing age-related cognitive decline; veterans with TBI; and individuals with ADHD or other conditions affecting attention and processing speed. Healthcare providers also use BrainHQ as a clinical rehabilitation supplement.
