About this resource

About

Founded in the Netherlands in 2017, Envision develops both software and hardware assistive technology built on direct feedback from the blind and low-vision community. The Envision app is free for iOS and Android; Envision Glasses are AI-powered wearables built on the Google Glass Enterprise platform and available in multiple editions. A partnership with Solos in 2025 introduced the Ally-enabled Solos AirGo V glasses as a more affordable wearable option.

What It Does

The Envision app reads printed and on-screen text instantly via Instant Text, captures and reads full documents via Scan Text, generates AI scene descriptions, detects colours and light, recognises pre-taught faces, identifies currency and objects, and calls a sighted companion for video assistance. The Ask Envision feature — powered by GPT — lets users point the camera and ask open-ended questions about what they see, such as "What does this sign say?" or "Is this prescription medication?". Envision Glasses extend all these features to a hands-free, heads-up format.

Who It Helps

Envision serves people who are blind or have low vision, with the free app accessible to anyone globally and the Glasses providing a more immersive, hands-free option for users who benefit from wearable visual assistance at school, work, or in daily life.
