About this resource

About

Envision Glasses combine Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 hardware with Envision's award-winning AI accessibility software to create a wearable visual assistant for people who are blind or have low vision. Developed in close collaboration with the blindness community, they deliver real-world visual information through lightweight glasses without requiring a phone in hand.

What It Does

Envision Glasses instantly read text in over 60 languages—including handwriting and cursive—describe surrounding scenes and people, recognise pre-saved faces and announce them by name, detect colours and light levels, and enable hands-free video calls to trusted sighted contacts. The Ask Envision feature, powered by advanced large language model AI, lets users photograph anything and ask natural-language questions about it. The companion Envision smartphone app extends functionality for remote sighted assistance when needed.

Who It Helps

Envision Glasses serve people who are blind or have low vision and want continuous, hands-free access to visual information throughout the day—reading menus, signs, and mail; identifying people in meetings or social settings; and navigating unfamiliar environments—without needing to hold up a smartphone.
