About this resource

About

eSight was founded in Toronto, Canada, and its electronic eyewear is registered with both the FDA (USA) and EUDAMED (EU) as a Class 1 medical device. The company has spent over a decade refining its wearable platform in partnership with low vision specialists and ophthalmologists, and eSight is now used by thousands of people in more than 40 countries.

What It Does

eSight Go uses a front-facing high-speed camera to capture real-time video, which is digitally processed and presented on dual OLED screens at adjustable magnification. Users can tune magnification level, contrast, colour mode, and brightness to suit their specific vision condition and environment. The device supports reading, watching television, recognising faces, and outdoor navigation while leaving the hands completely free.

Who It Helps

eSight is designed for people with central vision loss caused by conditions including macular degeneration, Stargardt disease, optic atrophy, diabetic retinopathy, and other causes of legal blindness with acuity between 20/60 and 20/800. Users must retain some functional peripheral vision to benefit from the enhanced central image the device provides.
