About this resource

About

Grid 3 is developed by Smartbox Assistive Technology and is one of the most widely deployed AAC software platforms in schools, clinics, and homes across the UK and internationally. It is designed to grow alongside a user's needs and abilities over time.

What It Does

Grid 3 provides symbol-based and text communication with ready-made vocabularies including Alpha Core, Fast Talker, and Text Talker. Beyond communication, users can control Windows computers, browse the web, write documents, and operate smart home devices — all from the same access method. Grid for iPad provides a companion mobile experience.

Who It Helps

People with complex communication and access needs, including autism, cerebral palsy, ALS, Rett syndrome, and acquired brain injuries. Suitable for users at any stage — from single-switch beginners to proficient literacy-based communicators.
