About
Developed by Smartbox Assistive Technology and used by thousands of AAC users, SLPs, and schools across the UK and internationally, Grid 3 runs on standard Windows computers and on specialist devices. It integrates directly with smart home platforms, enabling users to control lights, TV, and appliances through the same interface they use to communicate.
What It Does
Grid 3 ships with ready-made vocabulary grids (Alpha Core, Fast Talker, and Text Talker) and a fully customisable editor for building bespoke pages. From a single interface, users can speak, compose written text with word prediction, browse the web, send email, and control smart home devices. Every access method is supported — touch, switch scanning, eye gaze, head tracking, and pointer control.
Who It Helps
Individuals with cerebral palsy, ALS/MND, Rett syndrome, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injury, and any condition requiring both AAC and alternative computer access. Widely used in UK schools for students who need highly customised communication and computing support.
