About this resource

About

Hamilton CapTel is provided by Hamilton Relay, a telecommunications relay service pioneer that has served the deaf and hard-of-hearing community for over three decades. The IP CTS service is funded through the federally administered TRS fund, making both the captioning service and the dedicated hardware available at no charge to qualifying users.

What It Does

Hamilton CapTel phones display live captions of what the caller says on a built-in screen, using a combination of AI and live communications assistants for accuracy. The service is available 24/7 in English and Spanish, and includes voicemail transcription. Mobile CapTel extends the service to smartphones and tablets via iOS and Android apps.

Who It Helps

Hamilton CapTel is designed for people in the United States with hearing loss — particularly those who prefer dedicated hardware — who need reliable, captioned access to telephone communication.
