About
The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is the largest consumer organization in the United States for people with hearing loss. Founded in 1979, HLAA maintains a national office, 14 state affiliates, and more than 200 local chapters providing peer support and education across the country.
What It Does
HLAA provides education on hearing technology—including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and hearing loops—advocates for telecoil inclusion in all hearing devices, and publishes Hearing Life magazine. Its Get in the Hearing Loop task force promotes the installation of hearing loop (audio induction loop) systems in theaters, houses of worship, government buildings, and other public venues across the US. HLAA hosts an annual national convention and a research symposium, and maintains online resources covering assistive listening devices, communication strategies, and disability legislation.
Who It Helps
HLAA serves people of all ages with any degree of hearing loss, their families, and hearing health professionals seeking education, peer connection, and systemic advocacy support.
