About
The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is the nation's largest consumer organization for people with hearing loss. Its Hearing Loop Technology resource hub explains how telecoil-enabled hearing aids and cochlear implants can receive clean, direct audio from induction loop systems installed in theaters, houses of worship, airports, and other public venues.
What It Does
The HLAA guide covers how hearing loops work, where they are being installed, how to advocate for loop systems in local venues, and how to check whether a hearing aid or cochlear implant processor includes a telecoil. HLAA's Get in the Hearing Loop (GITHL) task force provides advocacy tools and information on finding looped venues nationwide.
Who It Helps
This resource is valuable for hearing aid and cochlear implant wearers who want to benefit from telecoil technology in public settings, as well as audiologists, architects, facility managers, and community advocates working to expand hearing loop installation.
