About this resource

About

IrisVision was developed to provide effective, affordable low-vision aids for people who cannot achieve adequate vision with conventional glasses or standard magnifiers. The headset is registered with the FDA as a Class-I medical device for low vision and has been evaluated in clinical settings for its effectiveness in improving visual acuity and quality of life.

What It Does

IrisVision uses a head-mounted virtual-reality display with a built-in camera to capture live video and present it magnified directly to the user's eyes at up to 12×. Adjustable contrast, brightness, and colour enhancement settings accommodate different types of vision loss. Built-in OCR reads printed text aloud, and users can watch YouTube and streaming media inside the headset. A handheld mini remote and on-device touch controls simplify operation.

Who It Helps

IrisVision is designed for people with significant low vision including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, Stargardt disease, glaucoma, and other central vision loss. It is particularly effective for individuals who have not found adequate solutions with conventional magnifiers or standard electronic video magnifiers.
