About this resource

About

Lingraphica has over 30 years of experience designing AAC solutions specifically for people with aphasia — the language disorder most commonly caused by stroke or brain injury. Their free SmallTalk app family was created to give stroke survivors and their families accessible tools for daily communication and self-directed therapy practice between clinical appointments.

What It Does

The SmallTalk suite includes SmallTalk Aphasia (picture and video-based communication for daily life), SmallTalk Phrases (common conversational expressions), SmallTalk Pain Scale (for communicating pain levels in medical settings), and SmallTalk Intensive Care (for hospital environments). Each app features professional video demonstrations of real speakers producing words and phrases. A separate paid web platform, TalkPath Therapy, provides structured online speech and language exercises across eight domains: speaking, listening, reading, writing, memory, reasoning, daily living, and news comprehension.

Who It Helps

Primarily for adults with aphasia, apraxia, or dysphagia resulting from stroke, traumatic brain injury, or progressive neurological conditions. Widely used by SLPs in clinic and hospital settings and by families supporting a loved one at home.
