About
Founded in 2010, Music and Memory is built on a well-documented insight: personalised music — especially songs from a person's formative years — can break through the fog of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and other cognitive conditions to reconnect individuals with their memories, emotions, and sense of self. The nonprofit trains care professionals and certifies organisations to implement personalised music programmes as part of standard care delivery.
What It Offers
- Certification training: Training and certification for care facilities (nursing homes, memory care units, hospice, home health, adult day care) to implement personalised music programmes
- Families at Home guide: Free guidance for families who want to create personalised playlists for loved ones living at home
- Fundraising toolkit and volunteer resources: Support for communities wanting to bring the programme to local care settings
- Educational content: Videos, research summaries, and guides explaining the science behind music therapy
- Donation programmes: Device and equipment donation initiatives to equip care facilities
Who It's For
Music and Memory primarily serves individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, cognitive decline, and other conditions affecting memory — including people in long-term care, hospice, hospital, and home health settings. Their training resources serve care professionals, and their family guides serve informal caregivers. Online resources are free.
