About this resource

About

New Mobility was founded in 1989 and has been the most widely read resource for wheelchair users in the United States for over three decades. It is the membership publication of United Spinal Association, whose mission is to empower people with spinal cord injury and related disabilities. The print edition ceased publication after the November/December 2024 issue and the publication now continues entirely online.

What It Does

The website publishes practical articles and reviews covering power wheelchairs, adaptive sports equipment, accessible travel, relationships, employment, home modification, and disability policy. Readers can browse years of archived content, subscribe to a free weekly newsletter, and access firsthand perspectives from wheelchair users alongside expert clinical and legal guidance.

Who It Helps

Active wheelchair users, people newly injured or diagnosed who are adjusting to life with a mobility disability, family members and caregivers, and clinicians who want a consumer-centred view of daily life and emerging technology for wheelchair users.
