About this resource

About

Founded in 1989, the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association supports nearly 600 mobility equipment dealers, manufacturers, and driver rehabilitation specialists in the US and Canada. NMEDA's Quality Assurance Program (QAP) is the only nationally recognised accreditation for the adaptive driving industry, giving consumers a trusted benchmark when selecting a dealer.

What It Does

NMEDA operates a QAP dealer locator so consumers can find certified local providers for wheelchair van conversions, hand controls, wheelchair lifts, scooter lifts, and tie-down systems. The organisation also publishes guidance on manufacturer rebate programmes, funding sources, and driver rehabilitation evaluations, and advocates before Congress on adaptive mobility policy.

Who It Helps

People with physical disabilities seeking to drive or be transported safely in a modified vehicle, as well as caregivers and healthcare professionals sourcing adaptive vehicle solutions for patients. Families of disabled children needing wheelchair accessible transportation will also find the dealer network useful.
