About
OrCam Technologies, founded in Israel in 2010, developed the MyEye device to package advanced computer vision into a compact, wearable format. Named one of TIME Magazine's top 100 inventions, it is used in over 40 countries across a wide range of visual impairment profiles.
What It Does
OrCam MyEye attaches magnetically to virtually any glasses frame and responds to simple pointing gestures and over 20 voice commands. It reads printed text from any surface—books, menus, screens, handwritten notes—and recognises trained faces, identifies bank notes, reads barcodes, and detects colours, all offline and in real time. The MyEye Pro adds augmented AI capabilities for richer scene descriptions and a conversational interface.
Who It Helps
The device serves people who are blind or have low-to-moderate vision loss, including those with age-related macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, and other eye conditions. It is also used by people with dyslexia and reading difficulties who benefit from hands-free text-to-speech.
