About
OrCam Technologies was founded in Jerusalem in 2010 with the mission of harnessing AI to assist people with visual impairments. OrCam MyEye magnetically clips to any eyeglass frame and operates independently with on-device AI, making it discreet, portable, and reliable even without internet connectivity. It has been recognised by TIME Magazine and featured in major international media.
What It Does
OrCam MyEye reads text from any surface — books, screens, handwriting, price tags, menus — aloud through a miniature speaker. It recognises stored faces and announces them by name, identifies barcodes and products, names colours, reads currency, and provides the date and time. Activation is via an intuitive pointing gesture, voice command, or gaze-following, enabling entirely hands-free use. The current generation also supports over 20 voice-activated commands.
Who It Helps
OrCam MyEye is designed for blind and low-vision users who want a discreet, hands-free reading and identification device that works in any environment — including those with limited connectivity. It is also used by people with dyslexia or other print disabilities who benefit from immediate text-to-speech on demand.
