About this resource

About

Phonak Roger was developed by Phonak, one of the world's leading hearing technology companies, as a next-generation replacement for traditional FM classroom systems. Using digital modulation with automatic signal-level adjustment, Roger is the current clinical standard recommended by audiologists for educational listening support.

What It Does

Roger systems pair a teacher-worn or table-mounted microphone with a small receiver that plugs into or clips onto the student's hearing aid or cochlear implant processor. The teacher's voice is transmitted wirelessly at optimal signal-to-noise ratio regardless of room acoustics. Whole-class Roger SoundField systems amplify sound for all students simultaneously, including those without hearing devices.

Who It Helps

Phonak Roger for Education serves children and young adults with hearing loss — including hearing-aid and cochlear-implant users — and their teachers in mainstream classrooms, resource rooms, and specialist schools from elementary level through university.
