About this resource

About

Predictable was developed by Therapy Box, a UK-based assistive technology company, and has been used by thousands of people worldwide since its launch. It has won multiple assistive technology awards and is regularly recommended by SLPs for users with acquired communication disabilities who retain literacy.

What It Does

Predictable's prediction engine learns from every message a user types and surfaces the most likely next word or phrase. A Favourites strip stores frequently used messages for one-tap access, while a History strip resurfaces recent messages instantly. A 2024 update added ChatGPT integration, allowing users to generate context-appropriate responses from a short prompt. The app translates messages into any of 43 languages and speaks them aloud — useful for international travel or communicating with non-English speakers. Over 6,000 symbols are automatically assigned to vocabulary words. Switch scanning access is fully supported.

Who It Helps

Designed for teens and adults with ALS/MND, cerebral palsy, locked-in syndrome, stroke, autism, head and neck cancer (post-laryngectomy), or any condition limiting natural speech in people who retain literacy.
