About this resource

About

Proloquo is AssistiveWare's current flagship AAC app, released in 2022 after five years of research and co-design with AAC users, families, and speech-language pathologists. It became the first AAC app to win Apple's App Store Award for Cultural Impact in 2023, reflecting its meaningful impact on the communication community.

What It Does

Focus Mode™ uses gentle light and motion to draw attention to key words without restricting vocabulary access, reducing the need for external prompting during learning. Thinking Space™ (iPad only) allows users to visually map and explore thoughts before speaking. The app uses Acapela Neural Voices and supports Personal Voice on compatible devices, alongside switch access and full SLP customisation tools. Proloquo Coach, a companion planning app, is included in the subscription.

Who It Helps

Proloquo is designed for non-speaking and minimally verbal children, teenagers, and adults, including those with autism, cerebral palsy, childhood apraxia of speech, and other complex communication needs. The Proloquo Coach companion app supports the caregivers and SLPs who work alongside communicators.
