About this resource

About

Sonic Alert has manufactured alerting devices for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals since 1978 and is based in Troy, Michigan. The company is a leading US producer of visual and vibrotactile alert products, sold through major retailers and specialist assistive technology distributors nationwide.

What It Does

Sonic Alert offers a full product range: the iconic Sonic Bomb alarm clock (powerful bed shaker, up to 113 dB alarm, and bright flashing lights), standalone bed shakers, and the flagship HomeAware II whole-home alerting system. HomeAware II uses TruAlert RF wireless technology with a 1,000-foot range to detect and signal doorbell rings, incoming phone calls, smoke and CO alarms, baby cries, and custom sounds via flashing lamps, bed shakers, and wristband receivers. The free HomeAware companion app for iOS and Android sends push notifications so users receive alerts anywhere on their home Wi-Fi network. No ongoing subscription is required.

Who It Helps

Sonic Alert products are designed for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals who need reliable non-auditory alerts for everyday home events and safety emergencies. The HomeAware II system is particularly valuable for people who live alone and require dependable alerting for smoke and CO alarms.
