Tecla (formerly tecla-e) is made by Komodo OpenLab, a Canadian assistive technology company founded by and for people with disabilities. The device bridges the gap between high-tech switch users and the mainstream consumer-technology ecosystem — allowing people who cannot use touchscreens or standard keyboards to control the same devices everyone else uses, without needing bespoke or institutionally-priced AT.
Tecla-e connects via Bluetooth to up to eight paired devices simultaneously, allowing users to switch between a phone, tablet, computer, and smart TV by holding a switch. Compatible switches include sip-and-puff, pillow switches, light-touch buttons, blink switches, and standard joysticks. Users can connect Tecla directly to their power wheelchair's driving controls, removing the need for a separate switch setup entirely. Via Wi-Fi, Tecla integrates with smart home platforms (Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit), giving full smart home control from a switch. The Tecla app provides advanced configuration including macros and custom commands.
Tecla is designed for people with significant upper-body limitations — including quadriplegia, high-level spinal cord injury, ALS, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injury — who cannot independently use standard touchscreens or pointing devices. It restores independent access to communication, productivity, entertainment, and environmental control.

The Urban Xplorer is a lightweight, adjustable folding white cane made from aerospace aluminium, designed for blind and low-vision users navigating city environments. It comes in four sizes (Small through X-Large) and features a redesigned dome tip, hardened aluminium joints, and a foam grip. The cane is built to handle common urban obstacles such as cobblestones, sewer grates, and uneven sidewalks.

Developed in partnership with Gallaudet University, it supports more than 120 languages and processes all audio on-device for privacy.
