About this resource

About

TouchChat is published by PRC-Saltillo, the same company behind LAMP Words for Life and the Accent hardware SGDs. Its close integration with the WordPower vocabulary system, developed by speech-language pathologist Nancy Inman, has made it especially popular in educational and clinical settings across North America.

What It Does

Provides symbol-based and text-based AAC with multiple pre-built vocabulary files (WordPower Now, WordPower 42, WordPower 60, TouchChat Basic, and more), phrase prediction, partner messaging, switch scanning, and multi-language support. Therapists can customise every page of a user's vocabulary, and a free TouchChat Discover version lets users evaluate vocabulary files before purchasing.

Who It Helps

Children and adults with autism, Down syndrome, ALS, apraxia, cerebral palsy, and stroke. The breadth of vocabulary files and page-based design make it a versatile choice for both emerging communicators building their first words and experienced AAC users who need a highly personalised system.
