About
Founded in 1982 in response to inequitable treatment and a lack of creative resources for people with developmental disabilities, Able ARTS Work operates four adult day programme sites across Southern California. The organisation is committed to authentic artistic expression and career development rather than purely therapeutic activity.
What It Does
Delivers structured, instructor-led studio sessions in visual arts, ceramics, and mixed media for 25–35 participants per site. Artists regularly exhibit and sell their work through annual exhibitions at the Expo Art Center and community galleries, building professional credentials and income opportunities in the visual arts.
Who It Helps
Adults with developmental disabilities and autism — particularly those with moderate to significant support needs — who may be overlooked by mainstream arts programmes in the Greater Los Angeles and San Diego regions.
