About
AccessAble (formerly DisabledGo) is a UK-based organisation that has been producing detailed, factual accessibility guides since 2001. Unlike crowdsourced platforms, every guide is produced by trained in-person surveyors who take physical measurements, photograph facilities, and record facts in a standardised format. The service reaches 6.2 million disabled people each year and is commissioned by NHS trusts, universities, airports, and local councils.
What It Does
The AccessAble website and app allow users to search for venues across the UK and Ireland and view guides with exact door widths, step heights, lift dimensions, hearing loop coverage, parking bay locations, and restroom facilities — all with photographs. Users can filter by disability type to see only the information relevant to them. Guides cover restaurants, cinemas, shops, hospitals, hotels, sports venues, and transport hubs.
Who It Helps
Wheelchair and mobility aid users, Deaf and hard-of-hearing people who rely on hearing loops, blind and partially sighted users, autistic people with sensory needs, and anyone whose condition requires specific, factual environmental information before visiting a venue in the UK or Ireland.
