About this resource

About

The Accessible Yoga Association was founded by Jivana Heyman with a core belief: yoga's benefits should be available to every body. The organisation is an international nonprofit focused on education, advocacy, and community — training teachers to work accessibly and creating a global network of practitioners committed to inclusion. Their work spans people with disabilities, chronic illness, older adults, and anyone marginalised by mainstream yoga culture.

What It Offers

  • Conferences and community forums: Gatherings bringing together accessible yoga teachers, practitioners, and advocates
  • Podcast: Conversations on accessible yoga practice, disability, and social justice in wellness
  • Ambassador programme: A network of certified accessible yoga advocates worldwide
  • Accessible Yoga Scholars Programme: Financial grants for yoga practitioners from underrepresented backgrounds to complete teacher training
  • Books: Multiple widely adopted titles including Accessible Yoga: Poses and Practices for Every Body and The Teacher's Guide to Accessible Yoga
  • Accessible Yoga School: Online academy offering courses on trauma-informed teaching, adaptive asana, and yoga for seniors

Who It's For

The Association primarily serves people with disabilities, chronic illness, and older adults who want a yoga practice adapted to their body. It also serves yoga teachers and studios looking to become more inclusive. Core online resources are freely accessible.
