About
The Accessible Yoga School was founded in 2020 by Jivana Heyman and Amber Karnes, growing from the Accessible Yoga organisation Heyman created to shift public perceptions of yoga and make it available regardless of ability. The school weaves ancient yoga philosophy with disability justice, trauma-informed pedagogy, and practical accessible teaching tools.
What It Does
The school offers self-paced online courses including "Chair Yoga for Everyone," accessible yoga teacher training, and sessions covering yoga for seniors, neurodiversity, chronic pain, and social justice in movement. All recordings are captioned and available for lifetime access, so learners can study at their own pace and return to content as needed.
Who It Helps
People with physical disabilities, older adults, wheelchair users, and yoga teachers who want to learn or share inclusive chair-based practice — including anyone who cannot access in-person studios or who needs to work around fatigue or variable capacity.
