About this resource

About

Adaptive Sports Connection (ASC) was founded in 1992 in Columbus, Ohio, and serves as one of the state's primary adaptive recreation organisations. An active member of Move United, ASC delivers more than 900 ski and snowboard lessons each winter and operates across 44 Ohio counties with the support of over 600 volunteers. The organisation is currently developing a new Adventure and Wellness Lodge to expand its multi-sport and educational programming.

What It Does

ASC's winter programmes operate at Mad River Mountain Ski Resort and Snow Trails Ski Resort, providing adaptive ski and snowboard instruction with trained instructors and specialised equipment. Year-round programming includes adaptive kayaking, cycling, rock climbing, paddleboarding, water skiing, wakeboarding, soccer, sailing, archery, and fishing. All veterans participate at no cost, scholarship funds are available for other participants, and no one is turned away for inability to pay.

Who It Helps

Veterans, children, and adults with physical disabilities living across Ohio, particularly those without easy access to purpose-built adaptive mountain resorts. The multi-sport, multi-county model ensures broad geographic coverage for participants in both urban and rural communities.
