About
Adaptive Training Academy (ATA) was founded in 2012 by a service-disabled veteran and is led by a coalition of adaptive athletes, trainers, and physiotherapists. Its mission is to deliver research-backed fitness education that empowers people with disabilities to build strength, independence, and long-term health.
What It Does
ATA offers the Adaptive and Inclusive Trainer (AIT) certificate — available as a two-day in-person seminar or self-paced online course covering wheelchair-specific training, adaptive equipment, cardiovascular exercise for seated athletes, and individualised programme design. It also runs direct fitness programming, adaptive competitions, and veteran-focused events.
Who It Helps
People with disabilities seeking structured fitness guidance, personal trainers and coaches working with disabled clients, and adaptive athletes pursuing competitive fitness goals.
