About this resource

About

Art Enables is Washington DC's only nonprofit dedicated to providing supported employment and vocational opportunities for adult visual artists with cognitive, developmental, and mental health disabilities. Since 2001, over 100 artists have created work shown in more than 200 local, national, and international exhibitions, generating over $1.2 million in combined sales.

What It Does

Resident artists work independently in the studio each week with staff support, then exhibit and sell their work through the attached public gallery on Rhode Island Avenue NE. Staff assist artists with marketing, exhibition logistics, and building sustainable art careers over the long term.
