About this resource

About

Blue Ridge Adaptive Snow Sports (BRASS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Carroll Valley, Pennsylvania, operating at Liberty Mountain Resort. Founded in 1978, BRASS is one of the longest-running adaptive snow sports programmes in the mid-Atlantic region and maintains a fleet of sit-ski and mono-ski equipment.

What It Does

BRASS offers adaptive ski and snowboard instruction in three formats: visually impaired/cochlear implant skiing with a guide system, stand-up adaptive skiing using outriggers or stabilisers, and sit-down skiing using sit-skis or mono-skis. All lessons are delivered by trained adaptive instructors in small, personalised groups.

Who It Helps

BRASS serves people with physical disabilities, visual impairments, and other disabilities primarily across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and the wider mid-Atlantic region. Participants range from children to adults and all experience levels.
