About this resource

About

The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) was established in 1976 in Breckenridge, Colorado, as one of the country's first dedicated adaptive outdoor education organisations. It is an accredited member of Move United (formerly Disabled Sports USA) and follows the professional standards of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI).

What It Does

BOEC's Adaptive Ski and Snowboard Programme delivers one-on-one instruction for skiers of all levels — from first-timers to experienced athletes — at Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Arapahoe Basin. Every lesson includes personalised instruction, any adaptive equipment needed, and a lift ticket. Equipment options accommodate athletes with visual impairment, mobility limitations, and other conditions. Beyond skiing and snowboarding, the programme also offers adaptive snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Who It Helps

Children and adults (ages 4 and up) with physical disabilities, visual impairments, and cognitive disabilities seeking adaptive snow sports instruction in the Colorado Rockies. Financial assistance is available for participants who need support with lesson fees.
