About this resource

About

The Disabled Artists Foundation, Inc. (dAFi — pronounced like "defy") is a Fort Myers, Florida-based nonprofit founded in 2018 with the mission to energise disabled people through art. The entirely volunteer-run organisation provides free or reduced-cost art supplies to disabled adults who cannot afford them, removing one of the most common practical barriers to creative participation.

What It Does

Disabled Artists Foundation distributes quarterly packages of art and craft supplies to eligible recipients across the United States. The organisation also runs a Discord community where donors and recipients share work and inspiration, and maintains a YouTube channel with free art training content. Supply packages are funded entirely through donations and an Amazon Wish List programme.

Who It Helps

Disabled adults in the United States who are at or near the poverty level and cannot afford art or craft supplies, including those with physical disabilities, chronic illness, psychiatric disabilities, and other conditions who use creative expression as part of their wellbeing and identity.
