About this resource

About

The Disabled Photographers' Society (DPS) is a UK registered charity established in 1968, making it one of the oldest disability arts organisations in the world. The Society is run almost entirely by volunteer disabled photographers who have accumulated deep expertise in adaptive photography equipment, technique, and assistive modification over more than five decades of practice.

What It Does

The DPS loans adaptive camera equipment free of charge to members for as long as they remain members, provides personalised guidance through a dedicated Adaptations Co-ordinator, and publishes a quarterly magazine, In Focus. The Society also runs exhibitions, photographic competitions, and awards — Licentiateship, Associateship, and Fellowship — that recognise photographic excellence among disabled photographers.

Who It Helps

UK residents with any registerable disability who wish to pursue photography as a hobby or profession, regardless of their photographic experience level or the specific nature of their disability.
