About
Invictus Active was co-founded in 2014 by Scott Smith and Paul Cooksey, both full-time wheelchair users following spinal cord injuries. Frustrated by the absence of practical home fitness options for wheelchair users, they developed a roller-based trainer that works with the user's own wheelchair rather than requiring a separate adapted machine. The company is based in Droitwich, UK, and has received a disabled entrepreneurs award from the Stelios Charitable Foundation.
What It Does
The Invictus Active Trainer uses resistance rollers on which the wheelchair's rear wheels spin freely, mimicking the mechanics of real propulsion for an authentic cardio and upper-body workout. Adjustable resistance from 1 kg to 3 kg suits all ability levels, and the Smart and Smart Plus models add Bluetooth connectivity for tracking speed, distance, time, and heart rate. Companion workout programmes guide structured training sessions designed for both para- and quad-athletes, and users can burn up to 350 calories in 30 minutes.
Who It Helps
The Invictus Active Trainer is designed for manual wheelchair users with spinal cord injury, paraplegia, and other physical disabilities who want to train for sport, improve cardiovascular health, or manage their weight from home. It serves recreational users and competitive para-athletes alike.
