About this resource

About

Kakana — meaning bold, determined, and courageous — is a streaming fitness platform founded by Matt Ney and built alongside disabled athletes including wheelchair rugby star Chuck Aoki and adaptive fitness instructor Jesi Stracham. The platform partners with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation to serve people living with paralysis and other physical disabilities.

What It Does

Kakana offers live and on-demand fitness classes across strength training, CrossCycle (adaptive cycling), cardio boxing, yoga, stretching, and meditation. All classes are led by instructors who are themselves disabled or have deep adaptive fitness expertise. A free trial is available before the monthly subscription begins, giving new users a full week to explore the library.

Who It Helps

Primarily designed for people living with physical disabilities, spinal cord injuries, or paralysis, and open to participants of all abilities. Particularly valuable for wheelchair users who want high-quality, disability-led workout instruction they can access entirely from home.
